RISE Method
A Different Way to Approach ADHD
At Rise Above ADHD, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions.
Every brain is different. Every family is different. And every student has different strengths, challenges, motivations, and needs.
The RISE Method gives us a framework for figuring out what works.
R — RECOGNIZE
Notice what's happening without judgment.
We look at strengths, challenges, patterns, emotions, behaviors, environments, and situations where things tend to fall apart—or come together.
Recognition replaces judgment with curiosity.
I — IDENTIFY
Understand what's underneath and what's getting in the way.
Together, we explore executive functions, ADHD characteristics, motivation, emotions, expectations, environment, relationships, and other factors that may be contributing to the challenge.
Identification replaces blame with understanding.
S — STRENGTHEN
Build the skills, strategies, relationships, and supports that create success.
We don't simply hand you a list of ADHD tips.
We experiment with practical strategies that fit the individual, and adjust them when they don't.
Strengthening builds capacity rather than focusing on deficits.
E — EMPOWER
Build ownership, confidence, self-advocacy, and independence.
The goal isn't for a parent to manage their child's ADHD forever.
And it isn't for a student to depend on a coach forever.
The goal is to help individuals understand themselves, advocate for what they need, solve problems, and increasingly take ownership of their lives.
RISE is not about fixing the person.
It's about understanding the brain, strengthening capacity, and creating the conditions for people to thrive.
